DIY Patchwork Dali Hex Walkthrough

Post by Sharon »

Trying something out. This is a lot like my autospotted Calico thread, but it is a walkthrough (giving exact colors, textures, paintball generating parameters) to create your own unique version of a Dali I hexed.

We will be making something like this.
Image

Before You Start

Download the Blank Dali Base from here
This is the same in shape as the OB Dali, but has cleaned up outlines and no overrides or variations for easy hexpainting

Use the Pet Workshop paintball anchoring fork from here
This will keep your spotwork from becoming unanchored if you need to make an edit in Pet Workshop

Set “Apply changes to” to base data in Pet Workshop
This keeps everything tidy in the breedfile lnz

Base Shape Modification

Change the tail ballz and tail linez to fuzz 3
Set the “Ball Size” modifier number to 3 (this is my default size modifier)
Fluff up the tail as desired (I usually go for something of a banana shape)

Congrats! You’ve done all the shape mods!

Hexpainting

Base Colors
Paint the Dali with solid colors. This is easier to show with visuals
(55 35 25 85)

Base Textures
Edit the texture list to look like this

Base Texture Application
Texture the dali like this

Paintballing
Place each paintball set on top of the one before it in the LNZ (Set 1 is the base, underneath everything but the pawpads, Set 2 is the next one… etc until the final set)
